I have a 500GB WD My Book hard drive and I am trying to do a 1394 host with the hard drive to my camera. Why am I getting a error that says "Too Many Targets! Turn Power off!" - Did I format the drive wrong?

No, some drives just don't work with the camera's built-in offloading system, and the huge MyBooks are some of the incompatible ones.

western digital MyBook as well as any Lacie products are the two most problematic external drive brands you will find. STEER CLEAR OF BOTH!

now western digital INTERNAL drives are great. its just their joe-consumer external enclosure stuff that blows
