Question With the DVC 80?

I know that this is a for the DVX 100 users but I figured that who else would know the answers camera. The 100 is it's big brother.

I have a shoot this week that the client wants it shot in black & white. I usually do that in post but I need to hand the tape right off to them. Does anyone have an idea on how this could be done with the DVC 80. It's driving me bonkers trying to figure it out.

Thanks for you help.
Dave

Re: Question With the DVC 80?

There's no way to do it in-camera. If they absolutely have to have it in black-and-white, immediately, then the only thing I can think of is you could record on a separate camera (or deck) and hook the DVC80 up to the deck/camera using an s-video cable. Snip off the pin that carries the color information, and it'll yield a black-and-white signal.

Thanks man,

That what I thought. But like always I was hopen that some one knew the cmera better. Just for info, do you know of any of the other cameras that have that function?
Thanks again,
Dave

Re: Question With the DVC 80?

Lots of cameras have a black & white function. Usually any camera that has a "digital effects" menu will have a b&w option... I think most Sony consumer cameras have it.

Well, yeah, but that's the thing: I don't know what pro cameras offer digital effects like that. That's something you usually find in the consumer lineup.

It's been a long time since I've used the PD150, but maybe it has it... or its "consumer" cousin, the VX2000, which is still a mighty powerful camera capable of producing professional results.

But I don't know... does the XL2 do it? Or the XL1? Hopefully someone who knows will write in.

Re: Question With the DVC 80?

thanks alot for you help. I will have to call the client tomorrow and see how we could meet in the middle on the problem at hand. I don't think it will be that big of a problem, like alway you have to kep the clients happy.
Thanks,
Dave
