Question RE: Matte Box & Filters

Just acquired my first matte box which features two filter trays. I am curious to know when it would make sense to use multiple filters at the same time? I could see using two different ND filters at once to increase overall filter strength. But what other filter combinations should I consider?

There are many times you may wish to use 2 or more filters in combination in a mattebox.

eg Grad and a color filter, polariser and color filter, Promist and color correction..................

Thanks for the tip!

And now to REALLY stir the pot, let me throw this out there: what is the advantage of using a color filter on camera, as opposed to using one in post? It seems to me using color filters on camera can put you in a real bind if for whatever reason you change your mind later on.

Its the art of the cinematographer. Working with light is different to working with pixels.

For the same reasons you can't simply undo it in post later if you change your mind. It's not that easy, unless it's very small in nature.
