Im sorry that this isnt about the dvx but i figured id ask anyway
My dads car got stolen and it has his blackberry 9700 or 9000 not sure which one, in the car. It has gps on it, is there anyway to track the cell phone to see where the car is because the phone is in the car. Please help

I'm afraid you might be out of luck. There is a program called Berry Locator that allows you to track
your Blackberry, but only if it's pre-installed.

http://www.mobireport.com/apps/bl/

"If your BB has GPS capabilities, you send an email and it will reply via email with a map showing you the coordinate where the device is located"

Also (though you've probably thought of this) did you try calling your Blackberry? Strange as it may
sound, if it's just a joy ride, they may answer and you can convince them to let you know where it is.

Good luck.

I am sorry, man. That is a truly bad situation. If there anything I can do to help you, I will do it, but I think that there is none

If the phone is on, the carrier will know where it is. However, you will need the police to request the info, and then you will have to approve the request. Did you tell the police that the phone was in the car?

It is pretty much routine these days to track a cell phone. The police do it all the time. The 911 service can do it pretty much instantly.

Disclaimer: The above info is from a former police captain. It is my belief that it is accurate, but you may want to check with your local police department.
