question on shutter speed

I have a question... On the HPX170 the 180.0d angle (Film cam mode) is equivalent to 1/48th shutter speed when Video Cam is enabled, which matches with a 24fps sequence... when shooting on slow motion the result is smooth... My question is, what would be the equivalent in a 25fps sequence? I'm in PAL land and when doing slow motion with a 180.0d angle I get a slight amount of motion blur... don't know if I explain myself clearly... I guess what I need is the equivalent in film cam angle of a 1/50 shutter speed... does that makes sense?

A film shutter is 360 degrees. At 24fps you shoot at 180, which is half open half shut. At 25fps the shutter is still 360 degrees so 180 is still half open half shut. So same for both 24 and 25fps.

a slightly smaller shutter angle would equal 1/50 if you were shooting in 24fps

or a 180 shutter at 25 fps

also, 24 fps at 180 = 1/48th of second
while 48 fps at 360 (wide open shutter) = 1/48 also

shutter speed is dependant upon not only the angle of the shutter but the film speed, because the two are directly correlated

and what about shooting at 50fps for a slow motion? (in PAL land) what would be the shutter angle for a correct motion rendition? sorry but I'm very new to this...

just stick to 180

180 degree always

unless you want a more stuccato gladiator look, or a more blurry look with longer exposures.

180 degree shutter is different depending on what film speed you're at. remember that.
