Question on external recorders w/FS700

I'm a bit of a panasonic guy but there's an FS700 in my future if I can get away from the 4:2:0 AVCHD factor in the higher frame rates.

With an external recorder, how exactly are those higher frame rates handled? Embedded in another format (I want to say 60i here but can that even be done with frame rates >60?)

What I'm getting at I guess is the following: is there any way to get the 1080 240fps cleanly into a 4:2:2 wrapper using an external recorder? I'm also on a PC/adobe workflow so I'm not too keen on Prores but I'll deal with it if it's the only way (thinking atomos here).

I needs some edumacation here because I've been living in a blissful P2 world for a bit too long it seems.

Sticking neck out here, but it may be down to how the FS700 does the 'laying off to card'.

All slomo is recorded into an internal buffer, then after the shot has been 'ended', the camera writes the contents of the buffer to the internal storage.

If it were to lay off to card in real time, or have an option to do so, then yes it's possible that it could be piped to the external outputs and one can see it working well with a Ninja/Samurai, Pix240 or Nanoflash.

However, in Mr Bloom's recent test, he intimates that the video is laid down to card at 50 or 60fps, thus cutting down the record time but counting out all HDMI based recorders (Ninja, Pix220).

IIRC, though, the FS100's 'quasi slomo' wasn't output to the HDMI or Composite ports. No loss to man or beast as it wasn't particularly nice to look at. However, my fear is that Sony missed a trick here and won't have piped the slomo playback to the external ports, thus making all slomo AVCHD only.

All conjecture upon my part.

Gemini & Samurai do it, with a bit of twiddling at the edit stage (to reinstate 24/25fps flags)
