with DVCPRO HD, aside from the obvious advantage of having a 4:2:2 colour space (and the post-production implications of this), what other advantages does using a format with 100 mbps (as opposed to 25 mbps) bring?
Intra-frame compression instead of inter-frame compression. Each frame is compressed independently, just like in DV. That makes it much easier to edit. Intra-frame compression also handles motion and complex scenes better.
DVCProHD uses uncompressed PCM audio instead of MPEG2 audio, and you don't have to worry about losing 1/2 or more of audio and video to tape dropouts -- there is no tape and no long GOPs.
