Question on audio

Mike:

I work with Avid Studio and Vegas. I am just wondering if you are familiar with the Digidesign 002 board, and what advantage it would have over Vegas or Sound Forge - just in audio.

Currently, I find the speed in audio with Vegas and Sound Forge so much faster than Pro Tools, but then I realy don't know Pro Tools that well.

Also, do you know if Avid will ever put a Secondary CC in the Avid Xpress Line?

You might as well stay with the pro-tools since you have the studio version. I believe with your OMF swap capablility it shouldn't take that long to do the audio scrubbing. You can always go and do it in Vegas and import it in as a wav. file. latter. The one advantage that Vegas has it has AC3 output as well as 5.1 surround.

With the 002 you can have your mixer be setup like the ones in studios with memorized key movements and firewire hookup vs analog. You might also try to get a faster HD that is dedicated for audio (SATA or SCSI). If you windows have a lot of programs in the background you can turn off items that is not necessary. Check this site. Hope this helps.
