Question for Mr. Dan Keaton

I see on Nanoflash.net there will be a bracket coming out soon for mounting the Nanoflash to the AF100. Do you have an idea when this will be out? Where will it mount to? Do you have pictures or a CAD drawing you can post?

Dear Brian,

Olof, one of our supplies, and a great mount designer and manufacturer, is preparing a mount for the AF100.

I will attempt to get more details today.

However, the pictures of the BEC Box, just below the comment on www.nanoFlash.net, are not related to the AF100.

Dear Friends,

The BEC Group makes some very nice boxes, typically for wireless receivers.

They also make a special one for the nanoFlash.

Thus, if one has an Anton Bauer Gold Mount, or IDX or similar situation, the BEC mount is is very nice way to mount a nanoFlash.

Dear Brian,

I have heard from Olof.

He is waiting to receive his AF100 so that he can check, and adjust if necessary, the mount.

Olof is very responsive, and you can purchase his mounts from www.nanoFlash.net

Thanks Dan. I'm sure you and Olof are aware of how many people will probably purchase this combination, so I'm sure you and Olof are aware that pictures and quick availability will help the cause. I look forward to seeing the solution that Olof comes up with. Thanks again Dan.

I will be working on 2 different bracket systems for the AF100, these are my initial ideas:

1. A handle replacement with NF and battery holder, for a very compact system. There will still be a handle there as well.
2. A shoulder brace with a wing for the NF and batteries to balance the AF 100 for shouldering, with an optional Rod system up front.

I have an idea that involves a quick change setup so you can either use the compact handle setup or the larger system.
As soon as I have the AF100, we are all waiting right, I will work out the exact design.

Here are some photos of my new Canon 305 system (w/o the rails), and my DSLR system.

I should have the production system ready in January as long as Pany sends my AF100 soon.

Thanks Olof! I like the handle design idea! I assume you are referring to the top handle and not the side handle/grip? The grip might be cool as well.

Brian, without the camera here it is hard to be exact but yes I am thinking something that basically mounts to the top mounts while still leaving the handle in place like a shim, placing the NF and battery off to the right side of the camera w/o interfering with the grip and also leaving room for shotgun mic and an on camera light light in the front shoe, or a new shoe on my "arm". There will also be room for wireless mic receivers on the arm.

Here is a shot of my EX1R studio setup:

The AF100 is very different so there will be a big difference in the placement of the accessories with my system. The nice thing about the above setup is that the NF faces the operator. You can also see my solution for a monitor that stays with the tripod head if the camera is shouldered. This system allows for a few different placements of the NF and battery as will the AF100 rig.

Dear Brian,

I have obtained the mechanical drawings for the AF100 and have sent them to Olof.

Our AF100 was shipped on Thursday and will arrive on Monday.

I do not know when Olof will get his, but we may be able to help Olof.

Someone should design a recorder in the shape of the handlegrip, and it would just replace the existing handlegrip (the one on the side).

I have a design in mind that does exactly this using the current NanoFlash.

I will have photos soon and hopefully be shipping in early January. These will available at NanoFlash.net.

Brian, my AF100 should be arriving here tomorrow. So I should have some photos of my design in the next few days. Contact me if you want to be a beta tester, you would have to have your own NF. I should have the pre production models available next week. There is a rod system design I am testing as well.

Olof, nice looking rigs. My AF is arriving tomorrow too. Hopefully we'll be up in North Conway later this month or next month for some XC skiing. We should hook up; I'd love to see your studio.

Best,
Benjamin
