[Question] Copy + Verify on Mac

Hello,

As I backup my SDHC cards onto multiple hard drives it would be really nice to make sure that byte for byte the source and destination folders matched. I've tried searching for recursive md5 programs but found none that were solid. There is a way to do it in terminal... (http://blog.ambor.com/2009/01/recursively-md5-multiple-files-in-os-x.html) but it time consuming.

Besides PutShot, does anyone know of a solid solution for checking the exact sameness of two different folder's contents?

I don't actually have solid sources but I take comfort assuming that a File -> Move operation would include some sort of automatic verification check at the filesystem or OS level. You think that's not the case?

We have reports from P2 and AVCHD users that file corruption can happy when copying on a Mac, and apparently it's related to using external firewire drives.

I would strongly recommend anyone in that position to use a copy utility that does verification after copying.

I would hate to assume and be wrong. My files are first transferred to my Macbook Pro and then transferred to a external HDs connected via eSata.

Thanks a lot 1SG. The problem is it requires that the source drive is a Mac format. Which of course as we know is impossible.
