Question before I buy a HVX

I found someone online that's selling an HVX, which they purchased from someone else. It's still new in the box. If the actual camera is eligible for the free P2 card but I've bought it from someone else would I still be able to apply for the card myself? Confused?
 
I would think you should still be eligible as long as the camera was purchased from an authorized dealer and within the alloted time for the rebate program. You may need to have the original receipt though to send in for the rebate.
There is a contact number for the rebate center in one of the threads on this site, so I would call, just to make sure you will qualify, if that is a deciding factor in your purchase.
 
When you call Panasonic, I'm sure they will need the serial number
to determine for sure that no one else has applied for a card with that
particular camera serial - assuming they will let a 2nd owner apply.
