question about the live 30rock episode... did you see it?

<spoilers?> (who cares)

specifically the last shot, where it goes back 'to normal', and looks like "film". my initial reaction was that this was shot ahead of time on film or with their regular cameras. then though, i watched the fade several times, and noticed an INCREDIBLY clean match on action shot from the live to the 'normal' - at least in terms of the actors' blocking. to me, it looked almost too clean to have been recreated in anythign but a live setting.

i know that all logic would suggest they shot this last clip earlier. but do you thin its possible that this shot was done live as well? with difference color processing of course...

i dunno, i just don't think reproducing the look of 30rock live is an unattainable feat these days.

Frame rate. They switched from 60 fps back to 24 or 30, whichever they usually use. No problem to do so live.

Live TV shows are always good lesson for those who insist that a) frame rate doesn't matter, and b) audiences can't tell the difference anyway.

I didn't record it so I can't go back and look-but I felt that the last shot was recorded in advance. Because there was a jump between the two shots-it did not feel like the
same shot with different video settings.

+1 the lighting is different as well !
Definetly not seemless !
Nice show been a while

Well, in researching this a bit further (and dissecting the shots in detail), looks like it wasn't the same shot and the final shot was shot on 35mm prior to, so mea culpa.

The lighting is substantially the same, however, once you factor in the different exposure. Not a huge difference on the actors. Really only a bit different on the background.

I didn't watch the behind the scene videos but after watching the ending about 10 times it appears that the liquid in Tina Fey's glass is slightly off from shot to shot. Plus, her hand seems to be a hair lower on the last shot. Not sure if the link up there refers to the last shot being pre-recorded but that would be my guess.

i have concluded that it was shot prior. the kicker for me was that fey and baldwin are noticably closer in the last shot than they are in the live shot.

I disagree about your opinion on the lighting difference. The ratios, color, and quality were different. Imo
