Question about the hvx200 resolution

I've recently rented an hvx-200 and used it for the first time. I shot everything in 1080 24p and i thought that this camera shot in full 1920x1080 hd and that it was one of the best argument of p2 over the 1440x1080 hdv. Strangely, when I import the footage in Edius Canopus, it says that my footage's resolution is 1280x1080 and when I chek the settings it shows that every 1080 DVCPRO data is encoded is 1280x1080. Is the footage from the hvx-200 really encoded in 1280x1080?

Yes it is. However, grab some HDV footage from a S0ny, JVC, or Canon, and compare it to the HVX footage. You'll see that there's more than meets the eye (or mere numbers, in this case) in therms of image analysis.

HDV in 1080i is not 1920x1080- its 1440x1080. HDV is 4:2:0 in color space, and is heavily compressed.

DVCPRO HD PAL is 1440x 1080. NTSC is 1280x1080. Its color rendition is 4:2:2.

Look at the pictures, and ask yourself: "Why are so many professionals buying this camera, if its so "under spec" ?

Oh I am not complaining about the quality, the images I got from the camera are superb, I just wanted to know if I've made a mistake while shooting or if it was normal. Thank you for the answer!
