Question about the cowboy hat rule

In my entry I have decided to give a huge amount of the characters cowboy hats, but none for the main character. My entry has a pretty big cast, but is mainly the main character on a lone quest.....Will i qualify?( i had to buy like 10 hats so i better ;)
 
Just make sure the heads look like this:

Couldn't find a good picture of him in the ginormous hat when he asks the old woman to watch his beer for him. But I am partial to pheasant-adorned hats.

If they wear them in westerns, they're OK.

Guys (NOT singling you out, Alex), please do not make a Herculean labor of questioning and pushing on the required element. It's straightforward and obvious. Spend your energy on your script, not on out-thinking the rules. :)
