To the people that have a Sony A7/S/R series or A6300 + external 4K recorder, how are you finding the jump in IQ?

I've been trying to find a good comparison video online of Sony's internal codec vs ProRes.

Cheers.

Thanks for your reply.

So if I shoot mostly in Log then it's a good investment, but if not then kind of a waste?
No, I'd say if you don't grade your footage and simply work under WYSIWYG productions, then you won't see much difference. But whether you shoot log or Rec709, if you attempt to grade the footage you'll see it fall apart fairly quickly.

I just got my a6300 yesterday - and did some initial tests today recording to my Pix E-5. Some very curious things... first of all - I could not get the PIX E to ever get a 24p signal. No matter if I was feeding it 60p 30p or 24 p - it was always 59.94 frame rate and always 8 bit. After try unsuccessfully all the settings on the camera - I finally found that if I changed the Video I/O setting to "interpret 1080i as PsF" instead of Auto - I could get 29.97 -- but no luck on 23.98 or 24.
Any one else using the Ody 7Q or Atmos recorders showing 8 bit signal and unable to record in 24 or 23.98 fps?

Thanks. I finally got it sorted this morning. Still not sure why I couldn't yesterday - hoping it was sequence of events - i.e. turning on the recorder first before camera worked for both 4k & HD today. My kit lens came DOA - so I just wanted to be sure that the camera wasn't malfunctioning too. I now know the 8 bit is a limitation of the hdmi output... but more tests to run...

Great... Re the PIX E5... I wish you could calibrate the screen, as it has a different look to the A7s display... a little ( slight) yellow/green tint... to my eye.?
Altering the gamma of the PIX helps a little. BUT it works like a dream, and is much easier to mount on top than the Shogan.
The ONLY thing to watch is removing the batteries and memory stick.... I broke both clips on the top that hold them in, its not a great design, and you really have to VERY careful...
