Question about selling an XH-A1

Hi all,

I'm about to sell an A1/Letus Extreme rig, and wanted to get some feedback about condition... The camera works perfectly, and looks 95%, but the onboard microphone appears slightly bent. Someone placed a bag on top of my Kata, pressing the microphone down and cracking the plastic support that held the mic on-axis. (Guesstimating, it's about 2 degrees off)

I've done some research, and it's a somewhat common problem, but the fix is $250 from videoonerepair.com. So: whether I sell it here or on eBay, do you think it would be worth the investment to repair the mic support, or should I drop a few hundred off the price, and make sure I disclose the problem when I list the rig?

Thanks much,
Paul

Anybody?

I'm just curious which a prospective buyer might appreciate more: the investment in repair, or the $250 off the price?

Thanks,
Paul

as long as the mic is still functional, I don't think it should take too much off the cam price

One thing to think about: if the new buyer ever have to sent that cam in for service for any reason, even if it's completely unrelated to the mic, Canon will force them to have that mic replaced and they will get charged for it. That's because Canon refuse to send the camera back out unless everything is in perfect condition.

Good point Huy...

And yes, I'm sure the mount is damaged. The mic actually works perfectly, but the plastic spring that holds it horizontal was cracked, leaving it hanging off true by a few degrees. Looking at the camera now... It's not actually that far off from the out-of-box "floppiness."

Hm. I may be a little OCD. Thanks for the replies, by the way.

Paul
