SHORT: Question about making a knife prop.

I am not sure if this is the right forum for props. I had to get a knife by a deadline to shoot a scene, but there are no stores in my city, that sell any realistic looking fake knives. Even with Halloween all the knives look like obvious toys and won't pass. I couldn't order a prop cause I may be shooting the scene in the next few days and need everything ready. So I had to buy a real knife and want to dull it, and make it as safe as I can for a knife fight. Any ideas on the best ways to do this? I read some ways of doing it for movies but not sure which is the most workable. And even after it's been dulled, I still want to minimize the remaining danger as much as I can. Thanks.

I used swords once and took a drummel and grinded them all down. Very time consuming. If you have a big grinder even better. Another option is get a hold of a prop house and see what they have and they can either mail you out something or give you advice.

Best of Luck

Yeah but most items take a couple of weeks to mail at least, and I'm shooting the scene in a few days. I can get access to a grinding wheel though and try that.
