Hey DVXUser folks,
I've got a question regarding the Lumix 35-100mm lens, which I've owned for a while now, but only recently noticed a potentially disappointing behavior with it. As you may be aware, the lens features a "smooth aperture" feature, which ramps the iris up or down gradually like a normal video lens (as opposed to the annoying stair-stepping iris of the Lumix 14-140mm lens). However, recently I've been closely watching the waveform monitor when changing the iris, particularly in the F10 to F5.6 range, and am noticing that the aperture can only be set to hard stops. It simply transitions from one stop to the next "smoothly." So basically, the lens still stair-steps like the 14-140 lens, but it just does so smoothly. I seem to recall that the iris was freely adjustable when I first used it, but maybe I just never paid this close attention to it's behavior. I'm currently up to date on both the camera and lens firmware. Can anyone else confirm that their 35-100mm lens operates the same way? Thanks much!
