Question about HPX2700 fan settings

I was shooting an interview over the weekend and the fan on the 2700 kicked on. It wouldn't have been an issue for sound except for the fact that I was using a camera mounted mic. I was rolling for about 40-minutes straight in a somewhat warm room (maybe 74 degrees). Anyway, I noticed in the system menu that there is an option to turn the fan off, and was wondering if this is advisable given the above situation. The default setting for the fan is auto. I'm guessing I'd get some sort of warning if the camera was overheating and the fan was turned off. I will say that there is some serious processing going on in the 2700 -- it definitely puts out some heat. But if memory serves the Sony F900 also has a fan.

i had the fan come on yesterday while i had the panny stereo shotgun in the factory mount. i haven't watched the footage yet, but i am going to see if there is a way to at least set a warning for the fan...... maybe a temp warning and assign the fan to a user button so we would know it is heating up and you could then fire the fan at time you choose at least allowing the least of evils....
