Do you need to have a p2 card inserted to get HD output to a monitor or deck, and can I record the signal to a sony HDCAM deck?

For HD Output some options are: Component out to monitor or Computer capture card or component to HD-SDI converter to Deck or card or monitor. You only need to enable the appropriate format choice in the camera menu in which the component connection will output SD/HD with the options of 720/1080.
For HD Output and Recording through firewire, you'll need a computer with an NLE that supports the camera FCP/AVID/Edius or an HD-Rack-like app. Set the appropriate setting through the menu and you can monitor as well as record.
You cannot use both the firewire and component output at the same time....
Neither of these options require a P2 card inserted, the P2 card is needed for recording DVCPRO 25 up to DVCPRO-HD on the camera.
It's not everything, but I hope it helps.
