Question about footage differences

Hey guys one quick question....

I am editing right now (my first project shot on the dvx) and when i shot i made my own personal scene settings with the color temp and gamma the way i wanted it... now in cam it looks like i wanted it to, however when i capture it into FCP 5 the colors look a little different, they look slightly less contrasty and warmer... is there something i am doing wrong? any help would be great!

(Shooting 30p but putting it into 24p timeline for slow mo)

Most likely your two screens aren't calibrated remotely close. Calibrate them both as best you can using color bars and then it may look more similar.

The only real reference would be a calibrated production monitor. You can calibrate a TV if you don't have a real production monitor. Get the production monitor calibrated first. Then, calibrate your laptop according to normal LCD calibration procedures. If it looks very different than the productionmonitor, you can tweak the LCD to taste to match the monitor. Finally, if need be, you can adjust the DVX LCD settings to match both.

The important thing is that the only real reference is a calibrated monitor. Start with that and work backwards.
