Question about filming "Meet the Fockers&quot

My GF dragged me to see it last night...thought it would be corny and it was but really well done and very funny.
I'm looking more closely at films these days since I've started to do video...lot to learn at the movies.

My question is regarding the skin tones and smoothness of the womens faces. Striesand in particllar looked like she was 10 years old judging from her face. The other women and Stiller also had perfect skin.

Didn't seem to be 'soft focus' because eyes , etc were sharp.
There was also a coloration that was very becoming to the skin but would not account for the perfect faces.

Anyone know how this done?

Filtration and post. It's actually what the "skin detail" setting in the DVX is for, smoothing out less-than-perfect skin.

The reason that I asked this question is that the effect was so dramatic. Certainly more that lighting, makeup etc.
There was some way that only the facial skin was smoothed without loss of sharpnees of other features.
How does a camera or software do that, operating so selectively.
Does it key into the color value of the skin or some other way?
How does the 'skin smoother' on the DVX work?
The question really is how does the camera and/or post software know what to 'smooth' and what not to?

I hear the cameras they used have a Botox filter.
