Question About Compositing

Being pretty new at all this, I think I need some guidance from everyone out there. Here's my delima; I wish to get some opinions about setting up a compositing system up for the type of work that I do. Basically, I shoot about 1.5 seconds per clip on subjects that are stationary, but the camera travel on one axis on a motorized rail. I wish to start doing this with a green screen so I can composite over my choice of backgrounds. I would like to know if anyone has any particular recommendation on which compositing software to use.

I am on a PC, with a PCMIA card to offload my MXF files. I plan on using RayLight to convert it into something I can composite it with. Here's the trick. I need to be able to either convert it back into an MXF file (using P2Maker?) so that we can continue the work using FCP on a Mac (based about 120 miles from me, I upload the files to an FTP server), or to output it to a Quicktime file that can be read in Quicktime Pro.

I looked at Ultra 2 by Serious Magic, which looks nice, but the support is nonexistant. I really need to be able to move the background pic as the clip moves, and no one from Adobe or Serious Magic will return my emails. I'm considering others such as Combustion, After Effects, etc. So I was wondering if any one has a preference working with the MXF files.

Thanks in advance,

Stuie

Combustion is great. AE is fine. Anything else is HUGE money. Download a trial version and some tutorials and see if its what you need.
