Question about camnera hours?

Does the hrs counter reflect playback as well as record times? In other words if I transfer a hour of footage from a dv tape to my computer will it add another hour to the camera?

Thanks

From what I understand it also counts while the camera is on and has a tape in it, regardless of what it's doing.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I very well may be), but I thought that it only counted hours that the tape was actually playing across the head. That's why guys who use slave cameras report having very low hours despite having shot hundreds of hours of footage.

My post came from looking into it for another forum a long time ago. I found a thread on here that supposedly included information straight from a Panasonic representative, saying that it measures all time the tape is in contact with the heads (if I'm recalling that long ago correctly). Which would also explain the slave mode hours if they don't have a tape in, since just being on wouldn't do it. I can't verify this as I don't have a DVX any longer, but I can certainly word this post such that it sounds like I'm sure.

The hour meter records time whenever the DVX is turned on with a tape in the drive, whether the camera is recording on not. If it is turned on WITHOUT a tape in the drive, it will not count hours on the meter. When a slave camera is used with no tape in the drive, the meter will not register time.
