im planning to shoot a short with the gh2. I was wonder what would be best; i want to shoot using the 24 fps cinema mode but it doest offer b&w. so should i go with the smooth b&w or shoot in 24fps and do the b&w in post?

I'd recommend doing the conversion to monochrome in post. Otherwise if done in camera, color information is lost forever, and if it eventually doesn't match up to your expectation... well... it's lost...
