The folks at Fujinon just sent me the standard boilerplate "we're sorry you're not happy with your lens" e-mail and are asking for the loaner lens back now.
Now comes the process of trying to get this expensive lesson behind me and recover my purchase price. I've lost a lot of money just in shipping lenses back and forth overnight, so this turned out to be one costly rental, what it boils down to.
I still have to figure out how I'm going to do the limousine interior shoot next weekend. I'll need to find a decent wide attachment, or find a 4mm Nikon and rush order an Adaptimax. What a catastrophe! For the life of me, I can't figure how Fujinon could sell a lens like this with such a poor PQ as compared to the stock lens. Anyone who buys this is going to be deeply-disappointed, after using the stock lens. The extra wideness is lost to the fuzziness of the images and becomes "what's the point?".. I'd rather have crisp, sharp narrow images than fuzzed out blurry wide images.
