QT only plays audio after export from ExpressPro

:crybaby: This is killing me as i'm sure there is a simple fix - i just can't find it. When i export a sequence from Avid expresspro 5.2.4 as a quick time reference file or even as a full QT movie file i only get the audio playing and a black screen in QT (version 7. pro). I have a file i saved from the web - a QT movie that plays just fine so i'm guessing the problem is in my settings for the qt export??
My media is all from an HVX at 720 / 30pn into avid. Plays there just fine.
My export settings are : use enabled tracks. Flatten video. Fill spaces with black. Render all video effects. Native . Use avid DV codec. Export as QT Reference.

I have no clue what is going on - have detailed directions from avid on this. DVD workflow using Avid, Sorenson 4.1 and Avid DVD. The problem is in the export i guess - have not used sorenson yet.
Any ideas - all would be helpful.
I haven't really used QT much at all and this is really my first time moving something out of the Avid towards a DVD conclusion. (prevously used Sony Vegas + DVD)
 
Just for fun, try exporting without the Avid DV codec checkmarked. Post back with what happens. It might help pinpoint the problem.

So i tried exporting without the Avid codec as a QT reference and a full clip. There was no difference - played the audio but the screen was solid black.

So i'm still lost.
 
I put the sequence through to sorenson and could render out to whatever and preview from there. It just won't play in QT. So is the problem with QT seeing it?? I have had problems with playing clips from other HVX users on QT also but have since upgraded to QT 7.0 Pro and same issues. Perhaps its a setting on my system ??? I really have no idea and would love to fix this.

Just dropped QT a note, hopefuly there is a helpful response from them..
 
Are you on a PC perhaps?

Personal experience. QT is a crapshoot in windows. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. On my Avid workstation, about 1 QT file (downloads of clips from this forum) in 10 will play.

However, most (maybe even all) of them play perfectly on my girlfriends Dell laptop.

Apple seems to have no real interest in making QT work on PCs. And (so far) I haven't been able to find anyone who knows how to fix is.

Yeah, i'm on a Dell Precision 670 Dual pros. / 3.2 Ghz - 2 gb RAM. Qt is a ***** - i have to except it. I am about to buy the soronsen suite and the AVIDDVD by sonic .. anyone have thoughts or suggestions before the big spend? I'm using the soronsen Squeeze trail right now and have had mixed results... the best quality so far is off the MPEG2 DVD_NTSC_Lg but get this.... it only plays video and no sound (Yep i linked the audio... ) works fine in the other setytings - windows etc.
