I now have funding for 3 minute documentary trailer.
Almost all editors work with Final Cut Pro on a Mac
I am prepping the footage for an editor on a PC (to save money)
My footage has all been transferred to a 500GB hard drive (40 hours or so)
Unfortunately I shot in several formats. I don't want to remove pulldown just for 3 minute trailer
1. GH1 1280 24p (60i wrapper)
2. GH1 720 60p
3. Canon HV30 HDV 60i
4. Separate Audio 96khz 24 bit and 44khz 16 bit
Question: How does Log and Transfer in FCP work? Is it a problem since the files are not in the camera, but in a hard drive? Apparently, it will work if I copied the entire file structure from the SD card (including the "Private" folder) to the hard drive. I did this 80% of the time, but for 20% I only brought over the video file folder. All our separated by date and time folders. Some on this forum say I can import to iMovie from SD card (would have to put them all back on SD card first), then import to FCP.
Some say I can use Handbrake for Mac to convert files to QT without loss. Or I can use Roxio Toast to convert AVCHD to .mov. Looks like Roxio works well but does it remove pulldown on 24p(60i) and also work with 60p footage?
Or would it be better to find an editor who works in Avid or Adobe or Sony Vegas Pro?
Or should I run everything through Neoscene to remove pulldown before sending it over to whoever (this would take days of the computer running if not weeks)
