FS7: Q. FS7 3.0 firmware play with Lexar XQD 2933 Cards?

On a FS7 Facebook group one person did try to use them and it didn't work still. I'm wondering if V3.1 may allow it. That should be released this month to allow the new Sony XQD-M series to be compatible. Maybe these new lexar's will as well.

Not certain whether the 3.1 update will enable the Lexar cards but it is definitely worth a try when software is released.

I'd send the cards back if I could and buy the much cheaper Sony M cards when they're available later.

If the posted speeds are correct they are a tad slower than the S card write speeds. I would use the M if shooting XAVC-L but would wait for reviews on XAVX-I higher than 24p. It may freeze. The N-series can't go any higher than 24 in Intra and the S are at 180MB/s. As you say M should be fine but I'd still wait for others to try first.

Interesting, I didn't know about the limitations with previous generation cards. The M cards have 2x the write speed necessary to record 4k 60fps and are PCIE Gen 2 cards like the G Series. The previous cards were PCIe Gen 1 which may have been the limitation?

I'll certainly wait for confirmation before buying a load of these M cards. Thanks for the info.

I'll find out on Tuesday but don't know whether it will be NDA. I'll post anything I'm allowed to repeat.

Thanks for the info.
Are the new Sony ones imminent?

Yes, they're in the B&H store for preorder. CVP have them listed though no price yet.

If the US price is correct they'll be about half the price of G Series cards in the UK.

Ive just read the official xqd M cards specs and you are indeed correct. They're only good for HD and xavc L so they're useless for my needs. So I'll have to dig deeper into my pockets for some more G series cards.

thanks for the pointer.

Thanks for the link Jim. As I anticipated it's very similar to what the N cards are capable of.
