Hi, Please forgive me for I'm a little on the green side with AG-HMC40, I just had it put in my hands 3 days ago. I'm trying to upload some footage into imovie. I test shot some footage in 1080/60i(30P) and in 1080/24P mode. When I go to upload into imovie the 1080/60i(30P) footage reads, uploads and plays fine, but the 1080/24 footage has the "red circle slash" going over it and it won't let me play or upload it. Can anyone please help? Q#2, Does anyone know if there is any learning video tutorials out there on the AG-HMC40 ?

Thank You

JEST KIDDING! iMOVIE only works with 1080i interlaced video. 24P is progressive video. Goto apple.com support and discussion forums to double check.

I had the same problem when I had iMovie '09. I HEARD iMovie '08 will do 24p, but like he said, double check forums.

iMovie will do progressive, just not 24 frames. It will see the 24 frame (24p) files and even preview a still, but it will not import them and shows the previewed still frame with the red circle/slash.

You need to use the Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). I believe Quicktime 7 has AIC. Check preferences. Import into Quicktime 7, then export as a .mov. It should then import fine into imovie. There is a lot of stuff on the Apple community forums about his. Just search for AVCHD conversion and you'll find all sorts of stuff.

You can also use Toast Titanium v10.x to convert the file. You can output in a variety of formats. I've tried short clips in 1080 & and 720/24p converted to mp4, m4v, and mov. All imported fine after going through Toast.
