FS7: PZ 28-135 Zoom Glitch?

Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a weird phenomenon with 28-135 lens when zooming out to full wide. Now, it doesn't always happen but occasionally when zooming out to full wide the lens will bounce around in focal length a bit before settling. When it does settle most of the time it's not at full wide. It can be very frustrating especially when working live events.

It seems like it might be a software issue... I have been using this lens with the FS7 almost daily since July and this has really only started to become a problem in the last couple weeks. It happens regardless of using the lens ring or the zoom rocker.

Anyone have any insight or experience with a problem like this?

I've not noticed anything like that. If the problem is new, and doesn't coincide with a firmware update, then I'd think you might have a mechanical issue. I'd consider sending it in for warranty repair if possible.

Thanks for the replys. That's what I was thinking.... I'll get on the line with sony support and see what they say. Everything is still under warranty.

After testing I find the lens a true POS. I really wanted to like it but in my mind, it's just another fly by wire lens that has the same peoblems all fly by wires have. Nothing mechanical in the lens so I guess there will always be communication issues with this guy.
As I have droned on before, I think just getting the SELP 18-105 works best when all you want is to some auto features from time to time.
It's just as frustrating to use as the $2500 kit lens. Just as sharp but at only $600, I can live with the short comings.
