Putting old tapes in my camera...

Occasionally I will pick up an old tape that has only 10 minutes of footage on it and use that tape starting from where I left of shooting. Is this what people refer to as "reusing Mini DV tapes" or is that where you shoot over old footage? I never do that.

Usually, I come home from a shoot, put my tape in my 1-chip/deck, rewind, then capture, then put the tape back in its case, then I occasionally put that tape back in my DVX and shoot from where it left off...

I'm getting the occasional audio dropout so I'm wondering if this could be why...

Well how old are the tapes.

You are supposed to run through your tapes every few months if they arent in use (ff and rewind).

They're not old...maybe a month or so. i usualy use a new tape. It's just on occasion that I run an old tape.

Thats not old at all! They are fine, give them a run through on a cheapo camera and rewind them to make sure the film isnt sticking and you good to go.
