Push and pull zoom lens

I'm thinking about buying the Nikkor 80-200mm f2.8 ED lens. I have read somewhere that this is a push and pull lens. Is this true? If so, will it work with my Letus35 Extreme adapter? If I do buy this lens, is that mean I can forget about using matte box and follow focus with this lens?

That is not a pull zoom lens, and yes it will work fine with the letus, Matte boxes and FF are all ways nice to have despite what lens you are using.

Thanks! I found a couple on eBay and one seller said it was a push/pull zoom. I remember reading a thread here somewhere that says push and pull zoom lens will be problematic when using with LEX, follow focus, and matte box.

I'll look for one then. I have a couple of primes already but I needed a zoom lens. For regular shooting (not feature film), it's very tedious to go back and forth with different lens so that's why I'm needing a zoom lens.

Ive got a couple of push and pull lenses that I use with the Brevis Flip. Its a pain in the ass that I have to take it off the follow focus when I want to zoom...but I gotta work with what Ive got.

Thanks, robmneilson., for sharing your thoughts on this. Yes, that is very true. We have to make the best of what we've got that's why I need to find out exactly what type of lens it is before deciding to buy.

there are several version of the 80-200. The cheaper one and older one is push/pull. You dont want to have to readjust your FF every time you change your focal length.

Thanks for the response. Is this one a push/pull or not? I'm looking at this lens. If this lens is not a push/pull then I might be bidding for this lens. This lens should work, right?

The push pull is equally sharp just a bit more trouble but you can save some money off the price. Unless your using a follow focus its not too big a deal as you can rack focus without it changing zoom. I have one for sale actually.
You can tell in the photos because you will see the markings along the barrel itself for the zoom settings, but except for what bwest says about serial numbers I haven't seen any other ways to tell.
