Well, its finally arrived,,, the time when I get to order my HMC. Next week i'll be placing my order. I'll be paying approx $4500 plus a 10% GST which our country has.
I'm buying it off a place in New Zealand as local prices are still astronomical,, even with our currency making good in roads again on the Greenback. If any of you remember back to 12 months ago the local price was $4500, then came the big crash with our dollar falling back to around 68cents, the HMC skyrocketed up to the 7K+ mark.
Well local prices are still the same even with our dollar around 84 cents today! So I ask why should I support the local dealer when his margin is just way to ridiculous, they are makin a cr*pload of profit so i'm buying of global media pro and stuff the local warranty cause I believe its not worth the extra $2500.

Look fwd to playing around with this little baby,,, BTW anyone tried mixing DVX footy with HMC footy and how successful was it? Apart from the obvious resolution differences.,,,,

hey mate. im in the same boat as you, living in australia and looking to buy a hmc152. where abouts in new zealand are you buying from? i have done a lot of research over a few months now at different retailers and am probably looking to buy from singapore. my guess is you are buying from globalmediapro which i have found to have a bit of negative feedback online. in their terms and conditions however they force you not to speak of any sales gone wrong however some people have spoken up about poor customer service. if you are buying with them i will be very interested to see how your sale goes.

I have a mate who bought a Sony HD cam off them,,, he paid, it arrived 3 days later, no problems. Can you post some links to this negative feedback you have read,, I'm actually going to purchase today and just want to make sure before I hand over the cash.

i googled globalmediapro fraud a while ago and found a few different shop review websites that had negative feedback on them. could you please either post in this thread or pm me with how your dealing with them turns out. i have been turned off due to not being able to pay by credit card and the fact i cant email or call them.
cheers. Xander

Cool i'll let you know,,, another friend on a different forum bought 2 HMC72's last Friday, they are sitting in custom's awaiting clearance,, things should be cool I would say.

Edius Neo2 is the same as the full version of Edius 5. It's just missing the Multicam feature and the 3dPIP. It even works with the HDSpark (which can be purchased as board only) to output full quality over HDMI.

EDIUS Neo 2 is not anywhere near the same as EDIUS 5! EDIUS 5 supports DVCPRO-HD, AVC-Intra, XDCAM HD, XDCAM-EX, VariCam variable frame rates ,etc., Neo 2 doesn't; it's geared towards DV/HDV/AVCHD.

Here's a full comparison chart.

Neo 2 looks pretty awesome considering it's free with the HMC150, but it's definitely a "lite" version of the EDIUS editor. It's more like FCE is to FCP.

I was talking about functionality with AVCHD cams. I should have been more specific. As far as missing features the two I mentioned are the ones missing. I almost mentioned the codecs, but didn't.

Okay, gotcha. But there are still other features missing, like waveform and vectorscope monitors, time remapping controls, the audio mixer, etc...

But yeah, for AVCHD editing, Neo 2 is ideal -- especially because it's free in the box.

Ya.. as a long time (Premiere 4, 5, 6/6.5/ then Storm/Rex Edit then Edius version 1.0 actually) Edius user I saw how it's basically the same functioning software. Ya.. vectorscope/waveform and audio mixer is also missing, but the two that really would make a difference to me would be 3dPIP and Multicam... Guess I shoulda said that!.. heh
Thanks for the clarification.

If it has Edius Neo well and fine, I have Edius 4.5 but don't use it for compositing,,, only time I use it is when i'm doing my TV stuff. Edius is great for color correction, broadcast safe levels etc. I use Corel Pro X2 for mainly compositing, transitions and titles and exort uncompressed AVI if I need to do any color work in Edius.

With the HMC arriving I realise things are now gonna be different,, Corel will edit native AVC footage but my computer I believe will struggle, my thoughts at this stage will be to transcode my AVC footage to Lagarith Codec or use upshift,, something I will discover and learn for myself I guess.

Awesome, it turned up this morning on Toll Priority after only being in customs for less than a day. I am so stoked!

I have it here with me at work and will most likely not get anything done today LOL!
