Can any of you dvx gurus please explain to me the whole "pull down" thingy? I'm in PAL land and I don't know if this apply here... and what about 24p vs. 24pn? is there an equivalent to this on 25p footage? do we have a 25p and 25pn mode? totally confused ladies and gentelmen... i currently own a DVX100b; needles to say how much I love my baby; however, I'm gettin ready for my HPX170 (early october for us in the old continent) and jump to the glorious pool of HD dureleeduu... extra question... would my batteries and filters work with this new lady? I guess that's all for now... any help will be much appreciated... BTW, there are not enough words to praise this community... an actual place to LEARN.

2:3 pulldown is used when you want to record 24p footage on a 60i stream. e.g. 24 fps film displayed on NTSC television. First frame of film is recorded on 2 fields, second frame of film on 3 fields, third to 2 fields, fourth to 3 fields, etc. I don't think pulldown applies to pal; 24frame film rate is just displayed frame for frame to 25fps pal rate.

Well, technically, there's a 2:2 pulldown when you record in the 25 "P" mode -- each frame is duplicated because it's recorded as 50p. It's a matter of dropping every other frame to get back to the 25p.

No pulldown at all in 25pN -- but that's true of 24pN, too.

Not much to have to worry about with the 50 Hz camera.
