i have two questions that ive looked for but cant seem to find the answers too. when loading ptools on the sd card to flash on the gh2. can more then one patch go on to the card? or does each patch need to be loaded to different card? and my last question once loaded do you format the card clean or leave the ptools patch on
thanks
seth

Only one by card as the camera only reads one file name for the update. Once updated, format the card in camera.

thanks for the reply. After the first patch is loaded just do.the same for the other patches? Thanks again Seth
Yes, you prepare one patch in ptool with all the various changes you´d like to add, then export a patched firmware file, copy it to your card and let the gh2 update itself.

If you want to change a setting or more you will always have to setup a completely new patched firmware with ptool that inlcludes each changed setting you desire.

Here's what I do. Buy cheap small SD cards to load and label each with the different patches you like and use. Insert the small SD card with the patch you want. After it loads, turn the camera off and replace the SD card with the patch with your fast SDHC card for recording... Al

I just save the patches in a folder on my computer. When I want to update camera, I insert SD card in computer, save the patch I want onto an SD card, insert SD card into camera, upload patch, remove SD card from camera, insert SD card into computer, delete patch from SD card.

Repeat as required.

I.loaded the 66mbps gop 12 patch into ptools and renamed the file gh2_11.bin and moved it to the sd card and went to load it by pressing the play back button and no image comes up. Did i.do.something wrong?
Also since Im.not.checking the pal settings do i.need to change the 50fps fb2 setting or.the 50fps frame limit
thanks

Hi,
I think you should ask this question on the Personal View forum. You may get more technical answers.
If you read through the threads you may even see that your answers may already exist.

Keep the bin file gh2_10.bin ? And change the original increment 1from to 2?
I must of read the how to wrong it said always change the file name last number to anything else
thanks
Seth

... renamed the file gh2_11.bin and moved it to the sd card and went to load it by pressing the play back button and no image comes up. Did i.do.something wrong? ...

To the best of my knowledge the firmware filename must have two (2) underscore characters ("__") in it, like this:

GH2__V11.bin

I believe the first 6 characters ("GH2__V") need to be the same as the original firmware's filename so the camera recognizes the new file as a firmware update.

The original firmware is GH2__V10.bin
You need to rename it to GH2__V11.bin or GH2__V12.bin or GH2__V13.bin etc...

Secondly, I believe it's case sensitive, so no lowercase. And Peter's right, two underscores.

i got the patch to load on the camera, after a few minutes of it loading. it finished and i scrolled through the camera and didnt notice any different settings. is this normal? theres no menu like magic latern to show whats new?
thanks for all the help and replies so far
seth

There is no cosmetic difference or menu. The only difference is the video quality of the avchd file.
