ptool "A", "B" etc settings buttons?

Questions from a beginner who has searched dvxuser and elsewhere to no avail:

How do I use the lettered settings buttons at the bottom of the ptool window? I've seen references to A, B, C, etc., settings. I assume they are different hack combinations. Are they listed or defined somewhere?

Ignore these buttons - they are NOT what the ABC settings are all about. I was also totally confused at first. The ABC settings are the numbers suggested by ptool as you click on each parameter in the video settings listing/menu - you should see 2 sets figures, the original on the left 3 much higher numbers on the right, it's those higher ones that you want. They are your ABC settings - just stick with 1,2 or 3 throughout and save the firmware before closing ptool. There is a good video tutorial on this somewhere on this site.
 
Thanks so much for the explanation. I didn't get the connection between the ABC reference and the ptool parameter values.
