PS Technik / digital cinema camera in the works

My bet is that it's a tricked out Arri Alexa using much of the same components.
P+S has always done this with Arri's film cameras.

Yes, http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?248826-PS-Cam-Digital-X35-P-S-Technik although so far it's mostly about how eventually the HDSLR is going to get "good enough" not to justify anyone spending $50k on a professional camera that does the same thing. :D
Nope. The point was that if the PS-Cam Digital X35 is indeed a 1080p camera with only 10 stops of latitude, its window of opportunity is limited, particularly if it's priced anywhere near $50K, since there are already cameras that appear to exceed some of those specs, and more are on the way. Some are far cheaper. Sure, the ability to do 450 fps is great, but it's of limited use in normal production.

As for the HDSLR argument, it was never said that no one would be justified in buying a $50K camera, because no one -- myself included -- claimed that HDSLRs would ever match a $50K camera. I said I thought they would probably come sufficiently close that the market for high-end cameras would shrink, which has already happening because of lower-end video cameras. HDSLRs are only furthering that trend. I think it's indisputable that HDSLRs are often being used -- rightly or wrongly -- where video (or even film) cameras would normally be used. What is disputable is whether their video functioning will improve drastically over the next few years. I believe it will, and you obviously do not.

I don't want to rehash the argument here. I just wanted to clarify it.

The PS-Cam X35 looks a lot like a rebranded, cosmetically altered Weisscam HS-2, except the HS-2 can do 1,500 fps at 2K, 2,000 fps at 1080p, and 4,000 fps at 720p.

I think all you're seeing is two cameras that share similarities in body design since they come from the same manufacturer, P+S Technik. The Weisscam was "finished" by P+S just like they did with the SI-2K, which also shares a vaguely similar look.

As I stated in a previous thread, if this costs more than an F3, we will be looking at a paperweight. For the amount of money I'm sure PS will be asking, the specs are pretty pathetic. I figured that was a RED competitor but I guess I was wrong. Funny, it seems like the germans exist and an alternate universe that is three or four years behind the Japan and the United States.

The price will tell. If it cost less or the same as the F3 it definetly is a revolutionair product, or a'm I wrong? I guess it will be €30.000.

hahaha. No thank you ma'm. Think I go for the EPIC in this case (can't pay that either :( = sony fs100.)
