Proud Father....

I know a lot of you here have children (or will soon), I have a couple myself.
Having a child is a hugh responsibility and the most rewarding thing you can do (provided you're a good parent).

From the day she was born to today, she never stops amazing me!
I wanted to share her picture & blog, which is most interesting.
She's been studying in Niger, West Africa since the end of October for
her first semester, senior year at BU.

Her photography...well...lets just say, she has a good eye & I'm glad I got her a good camera
for the trip. I wanted to send a GoPro HD over to her, but she thought she was too busy to shoot video.

So...blah, blah, blah...proud Father...blah, blah, blah.... here she is in her
Taureg turban.

She's kept a blog of the trip if anyone's interested...with some great pictures: http://www.gotokozard.com/

Next, she heads to Paris with the boyfriend for Christmas & New Years!
Damn, kids sure are lucky these days....and I can not tell you how much I miss
her beautiful face.:(

Any other proud parents in here? I'd love to hear about your kids....

Way to go Joe. It sounds like she really has it together, which is a testament to her parents.

I must say though, I've never seen anyone with green eyes before, that I can remember. After a quick google, I see it's more common than I realized.

Congrats man. She looks and sounds like a terrific kid that any parent would be proud of.

//I don't have kids but I have a couple nephews and a neice. The older boy has been doing martial arts for awhile. He's only posted videos of some matches to facebook but I'll see if I can find a link to post. The other boy does some motorcycling trials that maybe I can post. The girl is a little more conservative, so, I'll look around and see what I can post.

Thanks Gord!

She's WAY cooler then I ever was...and smart....that gene must have skipped a generation, cause she didn't get it from me.
(or the Ex-wife for that matter!)

haha. Don't under rate yourself man . You did alright in your day too.

Here's a little clip of my youngest nephew riding trials, I think for the first ime. About 6 years ago I guess.

At 4:53. You can hear my brother (his dad) and his ol' lady over the mic. Bro's playing with his 'almost new' dvx100 back then. ha.

I emailed my older nephew to try and get some martial arts footage. He had a couple goods ones. He's in his 7th year of university now, I think, lol, so, I hope to share a couple of those within maybe a week or two, whenever he gets back to me. lol.

I have Green Eyes Gord. : )

I love being a Dad.

Most of you remember my little man learning to ride his bike in this Vid back in 2004

Here he is this past Summer on his first day of surfing

Yay to Fatherhood !

That's great... I love trials...and hillclimbing! He's really good.
Out in boondocks where I grew-up, we lived on our bikes.
I remember saving for my first bike, got it when I was 11...totaled it
trying to jump a creek...and yes, it left a mark!

J.R., awesome.... it's just SO rewarding isn't it?
You have to excuse me, but this time of year always has me looking back.
You really miss the days when they were young, fun...and listened to you!

Then they grow up, start their own lives and they become amazing in a thousand different way...always a surprize.

Mine are 21 & 17 (going on 35)... both girls (thank God... I know how I was as a kid...trouble).

Thanks for sharing and the best to you & yours!

Being a Dad is pretty new to me (my daughter is 3) but you are right it is one of the most rewarding things I will ever do. It's also kinda scary thinking that you have a HUGE influence over this little persons life. Not only are you reponsible for them now but you are responsibe in how they grow up. So I both look forward to and fear trying to guide while letting her be her own person in the years to come.

It seems as though you did a great job!!! Any advice to us who maybe newer to this?

Here is my daughter playing with my camera rig (it's over a year old):

OMG...could she be ANY cuter? (damit, now you've done it...what is this moisture in my eyes?)

Advice?
Love them and tell them everyday.
Listen to them and try to understand their views.
Always be there for them.
Practice what you preach.
Remember your children are watching you and they are little sponges, so check yourself sometimes.

Hug them & kiss them as much as you can when they are little, because they push away pretty quick these days.
I remember like it was yesterday, taking my daughter to her first day of 4th grade. I walked her to school, but this
time she wouldn't let me walk her in to her classroom, she pulled her hand from mine...then I bent to kiss her...and she pulled away, didn't want to
be seen getting a kiss from Dad. It was a defining moment...sad & happy at the same time.

Thanks for sharing!

I have watched that little video a lot (my wife is always showing it to people who come over) but I still get a little teary every time :)

It's funny, I used to always hear people say how fast it feels like they grow up and I always dismissed it but it seems like only yesterday when she was a baby.... Only yesterday she couldn't talk back :)

Sorry can't resist one more:

Beautiful family...Happy Holidaze!

Congrats, sir! You've raised a wonderful woman and sent her off to explore the world. Your pride is justified.

Yeah, Thanks, I keep telling myself that as I look at the enormous student loans over the last 4 years. (and my second starts college next year...this damn AF100 better pay off!)
I've decided I'm not going to retire....I'll just go back to school and study abroad (pun intended) till I die!

Thanks Mike, I am.... and you should be too! How's your little one doing? I'm sure she's excited this time of year.
Cheers!
