protection lens

To protect the lens with a filter what is the best solution if you have to choose between a "clear optical flat filter" or a "HD clear UV filter" ? What does the UV coating bring extra in terms of image quality (UV is below 400 nm and not visible by the human eye)??

thanks very much mountainmedia, you are a big help :-)

What do you think about the Formatt or Schneider brand ?

I think it's tough to go wrong with any of the major manufacturers on a filter like that. Formatt and Schneider would be fine - I might possibly give Schneider the edge - but not by much.

I will go to the IBC next tuesday so maybe i get some more info over there and only about filters and than I will like we call it in the Netherland "shoot the bullet trough the church" and get me a complete HPX300 setup and start shooting :)

Cees-
If you talk to Panasonic reps on Tuesday at IBC would you please ask them if there are any plans of offering the 300 with the 13x wide angle instead of the 17 (for an additional price of course) or if they may offer it without the lens (for a discount). Naturally any info/rumors concerning future camera developments (replacement of the 500 for instance) would be of interest.
Thanks
