Hello,

I am sure it has been posted before but i could not find a post which list the pros and cons between the HV20 and DVX 100.
Is there a post which list all the pros and cons ? if not , can anyone list them in one post?

I am still struggling bwtn the 2 for documentary (war reporter news style) with no ontro over my environment and subject, with some background noise.

I saw some good doc shot in DVX and some in Sony PD170 but is there one shot with HV20 you know of?

thanxxx

pros cons HV20 vs DVX 100b

It's been posted many times. It sums up like this:
HV20 pros: small size, less expensive, high def.
DVX100B pros: everything else you can possibly imagine.

get a dvx...hv20 is a consumer camer which you will regret buying after you realize that it doesnt do crap...plus the 24p is not true 24p...high def will make you buy a new computer that can handle hd....dvx=:) hv20=:(

Wow....this statement is just plain silly. It is true 24p and you do not have to buy another computer to handle HD...who says you have to edit HDV?

I know that I can't handle HD very well...Im on an Imac, 2 gigs of ram, and 1.83 processor...Oh boy is render time, AND export time a pain in the ass when having to be dealt with.

I think you would have to upgrade to a better computer, in any circumstances when involving video, but HD you need a really good computer for faster results.

If you are going HD, skip the HV20, and just go right to the HVX, or the A1.

Search around, there are a lot more better HD cameras than the HV20.

The hv20 does not actually slow down the tape, the dvx does...If you dont edit hdv then shooting hd is almost pointless...
