Prores not listed as an option on Megastreamclip

Hello everyone,

I have been lurking here for quite some time now and decided to set up an account so I can get the most from the forum, and contribute when possible.

I have recently went to Thailand to film a documentary on Muaythai and I would like to get post-production started. However, I have never used FCP X. I am tech savvy and I can usually find my way around things easily after a few tries. But, when directed towards Mega Streamclip to convert my 7D footage into Prores, I'd noticed that Prores was not an option in the drop down menu. Am I missing something here? I have the newest version of FCP X, and downloaded both the BETA and regular versions of Mega Streamclip for Mac. Does Prores go under a different naem now? Or does FCP X have its own converter built in?

Best regards,
John

Thanks for the reply J Davis. So without installing FCP7, is there a better way to convert video to make editing easier in FCPX? Or can I do that right in FCPX? I am coming from Premiere so I am not familiar with FCPX yet.

I have FCP X installed on my boot drive, and see Pro Res as an export option under the QuickTime export in the MPEG Streamclip. No FCP 7 install.

I am assuming MPEG Streamclip, not Mega StreamClip is what you are referring to.

FCP X will read the footage from your 7D natively, but when you use Optimize during the Import process, it converts to ProRes 422. Easiest way to deal with it.
