Proper 24p workflow for after effects?

I need some immediate help regarding how to treat 24p footage between premiere and after effects.

I tried a few tests exporting an uncompressed 24p avi from Premiere Pro 2.0 and putting it into after effects 6.5 for tweaking, then I export back out of after effects and into premiere pro and the footage looks noticeably worse.

I tried looking but can’t find a proper workflow between premiere pro and after effects that doesn’t slightly degrate the quality of my footage.

Does anyone have any examples of a good workflow between the two programs with 24p footage. It’s driving my nuts, I’d really appreciate a little help.

Thanks in advance.

When you exported out of after effects, did you make sure to set your output settings to all of the highest quality settings?

Stupid question I know, always gotta ask though. I've never done anything in AE with 24p footage, so I guess I really can't help ya. Could always try exporting as a quicktime, seriously doubt it'd make any difference, but you never know.

Make sure that you interpret the 24p footage in after effects. Right click on the clips in the manager, select interpret footage, and then select either the 2:3 pulldown option or the 24p Advance option, this should clean your footage right up, but make sure you choose the right option, or your audio will go wacky. Why after effects makes this so hard, when every modern editor these days does this pretty much automatically for you is anyones guess, but adobe tends to be stuck in there ways for many things, just have to live with it I guess.
