I always hear conflicting stories about how do properly do a 24p edit and they are always vastly different with the speaker insisting that his way is right, so I just want to do a survey of what everyone does and their experiences - using FCP btw.

So far this is what I understand, if I am wrong, please interject - I have yet to see a concisive instruction straight from Panasonic/Apple that are on the same page...

1. 2:3:3:2 pulldown IS NOT NOT NOT for DVX 24p footage, it is for standard 60i footage to be captured and converted for use in a 24p timeline. If you use the 2:3:3:2 pulldown on f6 24p advanced footage, it will ignore the flags on the repeat frames and instead, patternly erase one out of six frames, not paying attention to the flags on the repeat frames and your footage will have repeat frames included and frames that should not be removed, removed, according to the 2:3:3:2 pulldown pattern, while not necessarily a repeat frame, and the footage will be extra stuttery as a result.

2. If you are using 24p advance footage the ONLY WAY to remove ONLY the repeate flagged frames is by importing the footage as standard, 29.97 then highlight the clip, go to TOOLS, REMOVE ADVANCE PULLDOWN.
