Proof Hollywood is dead, very very ......................dead.

Back to the OP.......since when is all that foul language permitted in trailers?

Would they run this in a theater? What about the children? My God, somebody think of the children!

It's a Red band trailer, only shown in theaters showing r rated films.
And on the youtube 24/7...

I don´t know, so "Casablanca" treated love storys like society treated them back then, and "She´s Out Of My League" seems like sth EVERY freaking teenager nowadays out there can relate to.
This may also be the reason, why some of us here, can not relate to flics like this - Hoolywood isn´t just about those epic movies anymore, targeted at a broad mature audience. It´s hard for mom and pop to take a night off for going to the cinema, but teenagers can go there any other night (if they can afford it...), it´s part of their social life and dating´n mating game.
BTW "Hollywood is dead" probably was already proclaimed back in the 80s, when movies like "Police Academy" first appeared...

I don't think the word teenager even existed in the 40's. It was created by marketing execs on Madison avenue in the 50's...but I get what you mean.

Some of my favorite filmmakers...Ingmar Bergman, Federico Fellini and Stanley Kubrick.

However when it comes to being entertained, I really love a lot of the modern day comedies. They are in my opinion, more funnier than comedies in the past.

Hahahahaha, no doubt about that.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "Hollywood is Dead", but after viewing that trailer, I sense trouble.

They pretty much shot their load in the trailer. Is there any 'shock value' left in the actual film that we haven't seen already?

That trailer is just the Gilligan Twist... the Underdog Switcheroo... the newest trend in Hollywood... that I like to call... *drum-roll*...

( We've been bitching about "Chick-Flicks" for years... )

Well dudes... welcome to the age of the Dick Flick.

It's Knocked Up... Meet the Faulkers... The Hangover... etc. etc. It's not that Hollywood's dead... but we do have another new genre.

I dunno...my dance card is tentatively full out through the next two years. I'm chasing gotta-get-on projects while doing the work I already have. I don't see how prospective work stacking up for 24 months into the future is symptomatic of "dead, dead, dead..."

people in the buisness in american filmaking are not really filmakers with creativity

in nyc many many people in the film buisness are just trying to make a paycheck
have a connection and got a union card or just fell into the buisness and pay in

This genre isn't new.

Porky's, Meatballs, Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds, Fast Times, Bachelor Party .... ring a bell ?

Naughty word warning......well, words.

I AGREE

Got some friends in that film. And sorry, have to say that this style of movie is VERY popular these days. So no, it's not dead.
