Project speed and multiple clips

I have searched and not really found an answer that is applicable, or I am too dense, whatever....

I have a project fully edited, with multiple clips, audio, all that jazz. It is 31.xxx seconds long. I need a final version of exactly 30 seconds. I have edited everything out that I can. How can I speed my project up by the 1.xx seconds?
Is there a way to shange the speed of the multiple clips simultanoiusly? I select all the clips click+shift, but only one clips speed is changed.
Will selecting first clip then last clip change the speed of all clips to get the speed change distributed evenly throughout the whole project? Framerate change? Blackhole?
I am running Vegas9 , 24p project. Windows XP
Thanks!

Can't you use a velocity envelope to shorten a few clips? Go to insert>Video Envelopes. Only works on video, not on audio. I don't know if Vegas has a way to time stretch audio; Soundforge does.

I've been in that boat before and just kept cutting frames until I was where I needed to be. If for broadcast I'd leave an extra 15 frames black at each end as well or your video might get cut off.

thanks! Yeah, I was hoping to avoid trying to changing speed of each clip. For a thirty second spot, there are several short shots that will be affected too greatly I think. I was hoping to be able to distribute the speed change throughout all the clips equally to gain the 1+ second I need. Thanks for the advice about the frames at each end. I did not know that.
Sort of a side note/question. If I render this out as an uncompressed avi Will I have much quality loss? I know it is "uncomressed" but does that mean no loss or minimal due to the edit and other stuff?

i think you'll have to render to a new track or file and apply the compression to a single mixdown, but you can compress any file holding control and stretching it. if you put a 30 minute dummy marker or file or just enable snapping, you should be able to stretch the mixdown as easy as that. i think you'll have to enable the setting to pitch correct time shifting.

Yeah, I ended up speeding up all of the clips I had up a smidge seperatly, it took a while but it worked. It was only a 30 sec project but I was hoping there was a more "automated" way to do that to all of the clips at once. Thanks for all of the replies and help.
