Project Management software for Mac

Hey guys,

Can any of you recommend a project management software for Mac? There are a bunch out there but I do not have any experience using any project management software before so I don't know what I features I want, only the benefits, which they don't sell too well

I want a program that can help me do these things, in order of importance:

1, keeps track of costs, budgets and deliverables, time spent, and progress timeline or timetable for each project. More importantly, this should have an overall, high level project tracker so I can see exactly my workload and all my WIP projects at a glance. This is so very important as I'm finding myself getting buried with all my WIP and pending projects large or small.
2, invoice production and management - hopefully this will tell me which invoices are paid, which are outstanding and for how long, and can automatically send notices to clients when an invoice is overdue
3, integration with Mac mail.. I'm not sure what for but this seems important
4, integration with iCal. I don't use iCal at all at this time because it, to me, serves nothing more than as a replacement for paper calendar.

Here is a list of products reviewed... not too useful for me as a check mark doesn't say how well a feature functions.

Thanks in advance. Is there anything else I should seek?

Unless I missed some functions from the two links above, these are primarily time tracking apps, not project management software. Genuine project management software will include task and resource allocation, and plot a critical path for your project. As things change, your resource allocations may change as well as the critical path. The critical path can be calculated from the begin date, or from the finish date. I have to confess that I am not up to date on the available software, for mac in particular. It's a shame that the very slick MacProject is long gone. Back in the day, we used PC based Primavera for managing larger projects, but the learning curve for that is pretty steep as well as expensive. You might want to consider trying (argh) MS Project running on an emulator.

Daylite by Market Circle is a nice project managemt app that allows for multiple team members, and has a very robust feature set. But id advise looking into online apps as well. Basecamp is pretty good, but can be pricey, rule.fm is another that's showing promise. This way, your not tied to your machine, and can manage things no matter what OS your on or where you are.

Im glad I ran across your post. I've found myself in the same boat and have done project management for various media companies and have a filmmaking background myself, so I know the annoyances you are running into.

In the interim, I would suggest something like basecamp or Teambox, theyre really handy and do a lot.

I actually am working on building filmmaker specific project management software right now that handles pretty much all those things you brought up.

I posted a thread about it here. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...r-Filmmaking&p=2493518&highlight=#post2493518

Check it out, and id love to have your continued input!

thanks,

Your requirements are quite comprehensive in nature. Depending on the industry sector you work in you'd got to implement a project management software that enhances productivity through efficient management of project tasks. I work for a web development company and we have several multiple tasks to work on. These days we've using Microsoft's project management software. You can check if its compatible with a Mac. Have you'll tried one before?
