Product Export

Hi guys, just quick one, I got asked to shoot a load of products that a company is selling about a minute long for each product, high quality, just wondering what the best format to export the clips in is? and possibly what size, its for web so that when a product is clicked a video footage of that product shows up in use. Will be capturing on a HDV XH-A1, slight editing but nothing major that would make me convert it into prores. I like the clarity and size of these clips found here:

Any advice would be great cheers

Kinda depends on them- they're likely to make it into Flash video or into a smaller .MOV for streaming. So you'd want to give them the cleanest possible source for maximum flexibility on their end. I'd say H.264 full resolution(i.e. 1440 or 1920 x 1080 depending on your camera's native res) would be a good start.

Thanks Noah, sound advice as usual, Ill take it that exporting to H.264 codex will automatically de-interlace the footage I shot? if they want vimeo size I could always make dimension 1280 x 720 as thats what is recommended when you are uploading to Vimeo. From Canon Xh-a1 is de-interlacing important when uploading to web?

No- H.264 supports interlaced footage as well so if you wanted to de-interlace you'd add that filter. That said, I'd still advise giving it to them clean. When it gets reduced down to a web video size the effect of the interlacing will disappear anyway and they'll achieve a great apparent sharpness if you leave the fields intact.
