Procedural Help, please.

Hi all,

My team is meeting tonight on a separate matter - a read though on a play that we're opening in February - some the cast and crew are the same for our Fest entry.

We have the outline for the script, principles are mostly cast, locations pretty much under control, and no budget - at least we don't have to worry about cost overruns.

In the past when I've entered film contests, I've just entered.

Looks like here, it's different; and therein lies my question, how much do you want me to share? Since my primary job is really teaching - I train Adobe software for the most part as well as Ulead and others - the idea of passing development on to others appeals to me. I guess one doesn't have to read it if it gets boring.

So what's the deal? Be gentle, I'm old and brittle.

As far as I know and have seen in the past, you can share as much as you like. Just remember, there is such a thing as "too much" sharing. jk Seriously, if you want to share your knowledge I think everyone will be delighted. If you just want to share the process of making you film then join in.

Exactly.

Some start a thread the day the topic is announced and go through every phase of production in thread, sometimes even posting audition tapes and asking for input of who to cast for example.

Others like to wait until the fest is open and then start a thread.

The only thing that's against the rules is moving footage from the actual film.

Behind the scenes stills: welcome
Behind the scenes video: welcome
Stills from the actual movie, color graded, raw, with or without FX, etc: welcome
Clips, scenes, or any kind of moving footage: against the rules

But I would like to hear as much as you'd like to offer.

I think Mark Johnson put up some stills ... maybe some audition clips in his Snake movie thread ... cannot remember the name of it ... for Horror Fest.

So look for that thread in the horrorfest subforum or ask Mark. The thread will be buried towards the back of the subforum maybe because he did not complete the movie.

Hiro had some for his Horrorfest entry thread as well but the links are no longer good.

I'm pretty sure we have some of the audition clips still on a server along with the bts clips. I'll try to ferret them out and will post a link if that's true. Also, Ted posted a rather hilarious clip from an audition for Threading The Needle that involved an actress who stopped in mid delivery to announce, "I no say that word" (referring to one of Ted's favorite words that begins with 'f'" I'll see if that audition clip is still on the server too.

Our team is doubled up with two projects. We have The Lion in Winter we are doing as a stage play that opens February 1 that runs for 3 weeks, and our Love Fest entry. Most folks will be involved in both, which is very cool.

The cast and crew will be very busy - which is a concern, but they are a creative bunch and know what they are getting into. We've done this before - we don't have any better sense.

There is a saying that I learned in the Army that holds true. If you want something done, give it to a busy man/woman.

For the Fest entry, folks are looking to round out their professional reels.

I hope the story we have in mind works.

We have an outline. Everyone seems to like it. More on it later.
