Wow -- fantastic! JVC's chief executive officer has posted directly. Those who have asked for a statement could not hope for a more authoritative source.
Thank you very much for taking the time to speak directly to our membership!
As point of clarification, it is of course true that JVC doesn't impose any manner of surcharge in the process of a customer returning a product to the dealer. I suspect that paragraph is in response to something I had posted earlier, about what two separate dealers had told me in regards to returns, which is this: if a dealer accepts a clearly faulty unit in return from a customer, they can exchange that faulty unit with JVC and receive a new unit back from JVC. But in the case of split-screen, if split-screen is the customer's sole complaint, then those units are not eligible for exchange from JVC, since JVC does not consider the split-screen to be a defect. Therefore, a dealer who accepts a return from a customer based solely on complaints of the presence of split-screen would not be able to exchange that unit with JVC and receive a new unit in return. They would instead have a used unit on their hands, and that could not be sold as "new" to another customer. That's where the potential financial loss to the dealer comes from. Not in any way from JVC themselves implementing a surcharge or otherwise being involved in the commercial transaction between the dealer and their customer.
If anything in the above paragraph is incorrect, I would very much appreciate any clarification you could offer. Clarity is the goal, and direct participation from high-level executives such as yourself is the best possible circumstance we users could hope for! Again, thank you for taking the time to visit and clarify JVC's position.
